Our Program

A young boy wearing a camouflage baseball cap and a blue long-sleeve shirt is outdoors in a wooded area, holding a turtle with a dark shell covered in yellow patterns. The background shows trees and green foliage.

We believe deeply in giving children a 90s-style childhood — one without screens, where imagination leads the way and nature is the classroom. We embrace all weather and all seasons, teaching children to respect nature, adapt, and find joy outside year-round. Rain, mud, cold, and sunshine are all part of the learning.

Learning at Twigs & Pines happens naturally while exploring. Our days are filled with hands-on, STEM-based activities, creative challenges, and open-ended play that encourages curiosity, teamwork, and critical thinking. Children are constantly moving, experimenting, building, and asking questions — we are truly non-stop from start to finish.

A group of young children and two adult women posing outdoors in a wooded area with fallen leaves on the ground during autumn. The children are sitting and standing in front of a large green bush and trees, smiling and making various gestures.

At Twigs & Pines, childhood happens the way it used to — muddy boots, scraped knees, big imaginations, and days spent outdoors from start to finish. Our children explore the woods every single day, discovering bugs under logs, following animal tracks through the trees, and learning by doing instead of sitting still.

Down at the creek, you’ll find kids catching crawfish, spotting frogs, and asking a hundred questions about the world around them. Up in the woods, they’re climbing, building, problem-solving, and flying down the zip line with confidence and pride. Every day is an adventure, and no two days ever look the same.

Outdoor learning and risky play help children build confidence, resilience, and independence. By climbing, balancing, using tools, and navigating real challenges, kids learn to assess risk, trust their bodies, and problem-solve in real time. Studies show that outdoor education improves focus, emotional regulation, physical strength, and a lifelong love of learning — and we see it every day in our woods.

At Twigs & Pines, we don’t rush childhood. We protect it.
We let kids be kids — curious, wild, muddy, and free.

  • "Twigs and Pines has been nothing short of an amazing experience for my daughter. Her confidence has blossomed not only in her personality but in her gross motor skills. Sending my 4 year old who had always stayed home with me was nerve racking. From the 1st day my nerves were eased. Ms. Kelly and Ms. Christina genuinely love the kids like their own and it shows. My daughter never wants to leave. The teachers and kids have had a huge positive impact on my daughter’s life."

    —I.S., current family

  • "..She has learned to be brave and take more risks in our play, and it’s done wonders for her gross motor skills. She has learned a lot this year and we will be sad to move on, but intend to send her younger brother when he’s old enough!"

    —R.M., Former Family

  • "... Activities were planned for each day, updates were given daily and my son came home with the greatest stories! He was so loved and cared for while at camp! I'm so thankful for a safe, fun, nurturing place!"

    —C.W., Summer Camp Family

  • "HIGHLY recommend Twigs & Pines!! ... Kelley and the other staff members did a wonderful job planning out camp and ensuring safety of all the kids. From fishing, playing in the creek, and tons of equipment for the best outdoor experience, my boys were excited to be dropped off and bummed to be picked up."
